225 Santa Monica Blvd. (in the Promenade)
The morning after my soon-to-be-sister-in-law's bridal shower, my older brother suggested we meet up at the Misfit for Sunday Brunch. I don't make it up to Santa Monica often, but the Promenade is hands-down one of my favorite areas to visit. Nestled unassumingly on a corner, this place had wow-factor literally from start to finish.

Prefer to enjoy the fabulous weather, people-watching and shopping on the Promenade rather than wait in a restaurant lobby for a seat? This genius restaurant will text you when your table is ready. Need a few more minutes? Not a problem; just reply:

Why don't more restaurants do this? BRILLIANT.
The menu is positively saliva-inducing. Make sure you click on this picture for a larger view.

We were seated in perfect alignment with the bar, which was liter(arily) adorable. My sister, an avid reader, was in love:

Check out some serious food porn after the jump.

First, the sips. Bloody Mary on the left, and I-don't-recall-what on the right. Not pictured: my sister's bottomless mimosa (which was bright and sparkly and rarely less than half-full).
"This Bloody Mary is incredible." - Mom

And the noms. This meal was basically beyond words, so let me attempt a few adjectives: Incredible. Delectable. Savory. Distinctive. Positively scrumtulescent. I can't vouch for the spelling of that last one as it's completely made up, but you get the point. I'll let the photos speak for themselves:

Misfit dip plate: lebni w/mint, shallots, turkish muhammara,
and Santa Monica farmers market raw vegetables

Homemade shoestring potato picnic stix

Grilled artichoke with lemon-infused dip

Hot salt and black pepper pretzel with jalapeno
cheddar sauce and spicy pilsner mustard
Bbq salmon with arugula salad

Crispy lobster club sliders served “savannah style” with
pancetta, heirloom tomato and russian dipping sauce

Ahi tuna burger, pan seared medium rare with
lemon aioli, avocado, pickled jalapeno

Misfit classic tuna melt, tuna salad, cheddar, fingerling chips.
We added green chiles; I recommend you do the same.

Chocolate chip cookies with rock salt. These are complimentary
after your meal and should NOT be missed under any circumstance.

Dark chocolate gelato. Not complimentary, but also totally affordable.
We split that one bowl between 5 people. Everyone was satiated.

Bottom line...
What a fab find in LA. The service was excellent, food and drinks beyond compare and atmosphere enticing. Completely affordable, especially if you can make it there for happy hour... not too difficult since it's 12pm-7pm daily. Make it a point to find your place at the Misfit. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
